Inspiring Women

August 11, 2017

Out soon on Digital and DVD is 20th Century Women, a celebration of the strength and spirit of modern women everywhere. To celebrate we are taking a look at some of the most inspirational women in Hollywood right now.

Annette Bening

Bening has enjoyed impressive career longevity, earning four Oscar nominations since her breakthrough role in 1990's The Grifters. Her latest role is in Mike Mills’s exquisite 20th Century Women where she gives a career best performance as a single mother making an effort to move with the times.

Kathryn Bigelow

Not only did she win Best Director for The Hurt Locker, the film also won Best Picture and dismantled stereotypes about the types of films women direct. Up next for Bigelow is Detroit based on the story of one of the most terrifying secrets in American history.

Cate Blanchett

Blanchett is a fascinating actor, having played everyone from Bob Dylan to Elizabeth I, and a regular champion of equality in Hollywood. Arguably her finest role came in the form of Jasmine French, the deluded socialite who falls from grace in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine

Reese Witherspoon

She’s an Oscar winning actress who tackled Hollywood’s lack of strong roles for women by setting up her own production company and found her own stories. Those stores were runaway successes; WildGone Girl and more recently the TV drama Big Little LiesUp next for Witherspoon - she’s back to acting in rom-com Home Again.

20th Century Women is out on Digital Sept 6 and DVD Sept 13.
