She's firmly established as one of Hollywood’s best loved actors who's latest role is in the upcoming Home Entertainment rom-com release HOME AGAIN, so there’s no better time to look back at some of Reese Witherspoon’s best screen moments.
One of her stand-out roles came early in her career when she played hyper-accomplished over-achiever Tracy Flick – a would-be school president who uses less than ethical tactics – in Alexander Payne’s 1999 comedy.
Witherspoon’s A-lister breakout came in 2001 when she played quintessential Californian girl Elle Woods in this perky comedy. She memorably attempts to win back her politically ambitious boyfriend by getting a law degree at Harvard, a performance that earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
WALK THE LINE
Witherspoon wowed the critics and took home a Best Actress Oscar for her intimate portrayal of June Carter Cash in this masterful biopic about the legendary Johnny Cash, with her success leading to roles in dramas such as Rendition, Water for Elephants, Mud and The Good Lie.
BIG LITTLE LIES
All is not what it seems in this dark comedy (which Witherspoon both produced and starred in) which is set in an affluent, gorgeous California coastal town awash with rivalries, deception… and murder.
More recently she starred in this cheerful comedy from veteran rom-com producer Nancy Meyers, a role the critics announced ‘she was born to play’. She navigates being a single parent in her 40s with hilarious and heart-warming results, making this yet another must-see Witherspoon moment.
